OUR STORY
Christy Montes, N.D.
Growing up in Colorado, I always dreamed of becoming a wife and mother and thriving in those roles. After moving to Georgia and graduating from Roswell High School, I pursued a teaching degree at Liberty University. During my senior year, I met Bob, and we got married shortly after. We then relocated to Florida, where Bob took on a role at The Willough at Naples, managing the Christian Treatment Program for addiction and eating disorders. I taught fourth grade at Naples Christian Academy.
When our first child, Kailee, was born in 1996, it was an incredible joy, but we soon faced some tough challenges. I struggled with postpartum depression, and Kailee had significant health issues that didn’t seem to improve despite various treatments. A friend suggested we see Dr. Julia Eastman, a homeopathic and naturopathic practitioner. To our amazement, Kailee’s health issues were resolved quickly, and the experience ignited my interest in alternative medicine.
Inspired by this success, I delved into homeopathic treatments and naturopathic medicine. After four years of training, I became a certified natural health care provider. I continued my education through correspondence and earned my doctorate in Naturopathy from Trinity University in Indiana.
Dr. Bob's Story
My path into the helping professions began with a pivotal experience during my college years at Hiram College. At 20, I went through a period of deep personal reflection that shifted my focus from short‑term pursuits to a more meaningful and purpose‑driven life. This change inspired me to seek out communities and learning environments that supported personal growth, integrity, and service to others.
After graduating, I worked in college campus ministry and continued my graduate studies. During my time in that role, I encountered challenges that led me to question whether pastoral work was the right long‑term fit. That period of introspection pushed me to reevaluate my strengths, values, and the kind of impact I wanted to have. Through that process, I discovered that my true passion lay in supporting people’s mental and emotional well‑being.
I realized I wanted to help individuals understand themselves more fully, navigate life’s difficulties, and reach their potential. With that renewed clarity, I committed myself to becoming a psychologist. After eight years of focused study and training, I earned my doctorate in psychology—an achievement that reflects both my dedication and my belief in the transformative power of compassionate, evidence‑based care.
